KX250 tank on KX500..which one?
An 89 KX250 tank is a direct drop on. It's not as tall so it makes sliding up easier. You loose some capacity though. The 500 tank is either 2.9 or 2.6 gallons, i forget, and the 89 KX250 tank is 2.3 gallons. Any 250 post 90 has the perimeter frame and could make mounting a pain. Plus Finding radiator shrouds to work would be hard as well.

KX500 Starting tips please!
So, my tips would be: - make sure bike is in a good state of tune - good gas, good plug, clean filter, etc. - make sure compression is ok. - make sure jetting is close. - give it a small crack of the throttle (tiny bit) - get it all the way to the top, give it a firm kick through. 135 psi is NOT "decent" compression.

The stock KX500 clutch covers were one piece, so the entire outer right case would have needed to be removed just to change clutch plates. Factory Kawasaki made a handful of two-piece covers, but those are long gone. Clayton Miller at Trick Engineering now has the technology to produce complete machined billet two-piece KX500 clutch covers.

The CR has much more aftermarket add-ons available, and it is easier to find. The KX is butt-ugly IMO. The KX500 has a PWK carburetor (the one thing better than what comes stock on the CR500) The CR500's carburetor still works great, and is easier to tune than the PWK's are.
