One of three Illinois stops on the Underground Railroad. Nov 2018 • Couples. The Graue Mill, a water-powered grist mill that was originally erected in 1852 and is one of only two operating water-powered grist mills in Illinois, has experienced and written a lot of history over the decades.

This mill was refurbished in the late 1950s and is the only functioning grist mill in the area. Though the mill wheels are now electrically run, they do grind their own corn meal but the museum itself also shows life as it used to be along with demonstrators who card, spin and weave wool as well as linen, and they also weave rag rugs.
